ALBERT, TEXAS — Remember how Chrysler product interiors used to look?
The nicest thing we could say about them is that they took The Grateful Dead’s Touch of Gray to heart.
Then they decided to clean-sheet the ranks, resulting in oooo's, awww’s, and awards, from the likes of Wards Auto.
In case you missed it, the 2013 Dodge Dart just snagged one of the Top-10 spots for the latest Wards interior awards. It only made sense that it was time to get some seat time.
“Interior quality and fit and finish is definitely number one,” said Ryan Nagode, chief designer from the Dodge and Ram... [Read More]

Dodge announced partial EPA fuel-economy estimates for its 2013 Dart and revealed that a fuel economy-focused version of the compact sedan will get at least 41 mpg on the highway when equipped with a manual transmission and the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder. This Aero package, as Dodge calls it, will be available in the third quarter of 2012 after the car's spring debut. Pricing for the package hasn't been announced, but it includes aerodynamic changes and low-rolling-resistance tires.
Without the Aero package, the manual-transmission, turbocharged four-cylinder Dart gets an EPA-estimated 27/39 mpg city/highway, while the base 2.0-liter engine is... [Read More]

Not to be outdone by the GM/Powermat venture introduced last year, Chrysler announced today that it would begin offering wireless device charging in the forthcoming 2013 Dodge Dart.
Available through the maker’s Mopar parts and accessory division, the system consists of an integrated “power bin” located just below the center stack in front of the center console and a specifically designed phone case. The bin has a built-in charging grid that is activated when an applicable iPhone, Blackberry, Droid, or what have you is placed in the bin. Charging takes place only when the vehicle is running.
The required phone case... [Read More]

Rallycross takes competition rally cars, adds a ton of power, and puts them in wheel-to-wheel racing. It is a videogame come to life. Thus we're excited to see SRT Motorsport's new 600-horsepower, four-wheel-drive rallycross Dodge Dart in the flesh and with Travis Pastrana at the wheel.
We're going to run down the specs on this prototype, because it reads like a laundry list of everything we want in a compact car.
In the Dodge Dart road car, the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 16-valve, turbocharged engine produces 184 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Pastrana's rallycross car is rated at 600 horsepower and 550 ft-lbs of torque.
While the road car is... [Read More]

Dodge is wasting no time launching its most anticipated compact car, the 2013 Dodge Dart. Most Dodge dealers will have the 2013 Dart in showrooms before late June.
Chrysler’s Belvidere, Illinois plant will begin cranking out about 2000 Dodge Darts in May, and another 8000 in June, Reid Bigland, president and CEO of Dodge told Detroit Free Press. Things won’t start heating up until late summer though, when all the options and availability detailed on the online Dart configurator will “really hit the stride,” Bigland said. The recently launched configurator gave us a peek at how the Dart’s trim levels will be stratified, but Dodge emphasizes that... [Read More]

Turbocharging is rapidly growing, from a niche feature designed to make cars go fast, to a mainstream technology for saving fuel.
That’s because turbocharging allows an automaker to substitute a smaller, more fuel-efficient engine for a bigger engine, without sacrificing power.
For example, the upcoming 2013 Dodge Dart and the “Eco” version of the 2012 Chevy Cruze have turbocharged engine options. The Cruze Eco gets an EPA-estimated 42 mpg.
The 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbo in the Dodge Dart generates 160 hp, the same as a bigger, 2.0-liter engine without a turbo. Dodge hasn’t published an EPA estimate for the Dodge Dart yet.... [Read More]
